Planning Your Removals from UK to Italy
It is always exciting to make a fresh start in a new country, but such a major change requires careful planning from the very beginning. Packing up and moving to a new country just isn’t viable – you need to consider the various legal and practical issues involved. Among this is the very serious concern of transporting your personal possessions overseas.
Since we first began trading many years ago, we have helped thousands of customers with their removals from UK to Italy. We understand the various things you’re expected to arrange in order things to run smoothly. These are just a few of them:
De-cluttering Your Home
Most of us have a tendency to hoard things, even if we don’t know we’re doing it. All those keepsakes and memorabilia that we can’t bear to part with soon mount up. Moving to a new country gives you the perfect chance to be brutal with your possessions, paring things down to only those items you truly need in your life.
Packing Up Your Belongings
Packing up your belongings for an international move will take longer than you think, so you should plan extra time for doing so. Everything should be well wrapped to protect against damage and packed into strong and secure boxes for the journey ahead.
Dismantling Your Furniture
If your furniture can be dismantled prior to shipping, you should do so. It takes up less space in a shipping container (thereby saving you money) and is also much more protected during the journey, reducing the risk of damage.
Shipping times can vary, depending on which method you employ to transport your removals from the UK to Italy. If you hire an entire shipping container, it can take as little as a week, though you will be paying more for the improved speed. Groupage (or shared shipping) is normally cheaper, but the transport time is closer to 4-6 weeks.
While you’re waiting for your furniture and larger items to arrive in Italy, you should have a plan in place for how you’re going to get by in the meantime. If you’re on your own, you might be able to make do with a camp bed or a sleeping bag for a few weeks. If not, you can usually pick up some cheap, yet serviceable, furniture locally that will do the job. These items can always be put to use elsewhere, once your removals from the UK to Italy turn up.
